Materials Research Centre (MRC) is a regional research centre, operated as an independent department of the Faculty of Chemistry, Brno University of Technology. It focuses primarily on applied research in two areas of research – inorganic materials and advanced organic materials and biomaterials – with special emphasis on chemistry. The centre carries out its own basic research which serves as a source of inspiration for potential applications.
Materials Research Centre at FCH BUT was established within the scope of the project of the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovation, priority axis 2. Between April 2010 and December 2013, more than CZK 200 million was invested into building this cutting-edge scientific research centre.
We are offering high-quality instrumental and knowledge base for chemical, physico-chemical and physical material research. Our understanding of materials is broad – from the traditional, macroscopic one (e.g. building or metallic materials, bioplastics), through dispersions, colloid materials, thin layers or electronic elements to biologically active substances and their carriers.
